Saint Paraskevi spent much of her childhood in Prayer and reading the Holy Scriptures.

Saint Paraskevi was born to Christian parents Agathon and Politia. They were childless for many years and Prayed to God to grant them a child. When they were pregnant with Saint Paraskevi, they dedicated her to God, and named her Paraskevi which means Preparation – the day of preparation for the Sabbath. From a very young age Saint Paraskevi dedicated herself to God, preparing her body and Soul as a Holy dwelling place of Christ. Saint Paraskevi spent much of her childhood in Prayer and reading the Holy Scriptures.
