February 26th: Ordination to the Priesthood
Saint John lived a great Ascetic life of Prayer, fasting and poverty.
Saint John Chrysostom had a deep understanding of Holy Scripture – interpreting it with the guidance of Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Holy Apostle Saint Paul. His ear remains intact, the ear in which Saint Paul spoke to him. Saint John was Ordained to the Priesthood and given the title of Chrysostom, which means golden mouthed, because of his most Spiritually eloquent and profound writings and sermons.
Saint John Chrysostom is the author of the most beautiful and powerful Paschal Sermon we read each year at the Paschal Divine Liturgy of the Resurrection of Christ.
